The Fence Installation Series orginated from some of Jeanne's older Orange Construction Fence Installation Series, which were (indoor) whole cloth quilts.

Before outdoor installation, holes were cut into the work to more resemble actual construction fences, to help enable the viewer to experience nature around and through the work, and to allow the wind to blow through them so they were more stable in different kinds of weather.

The two Fence Installation Series pieces lived outside in Jeanne's yard for a period of one year, starting in late-May 2009 and ending in late-May 2010.
